Hill Night

Tonight was hill night for football. Hill night is hard to say the least. Now all of you reading this blog back in Fremont the sledding hill would have merely been the base of it. This thing is ginormous. For hill night we have four intense stations that test your gut, grit, determination, heart, and will. Then to end the whole thing we have "The Finisher." The finisher makes these four drills look like cake.  ALOT of vomit to say the least. But as I was running I came to the realization that every step I took became harder and harder. Every breath I so desperately gasped for became more distant. Every drill became my enemy. In between the sweat beads the covered my eyes and ears I heard coaches yelling to keep going, to keep moving. Guys being a Christian is like running up a hill. The obstacles and drills never seem to end and become over very nightmares. The people who mock you seem to take the very breath that you so desperately need right out of your chest. And the burning in your thighs never seems to pass. The hill tries to break us down mentally and physically. But the more we truck up the hill, the more we decide NOT to give into that little voice that tells us its ok to take a break and to sit down, or to even walk back down to the base of the hill the easier it gets.

                                    SATEN RUNS THIS HILL.............

And it drives him absolutely crazy when we don't give into his obstacles and drills, because the more drills we conquer, more people follow us as we continue up the hill. And through the tears and the pain. The doubt and the suffering. Through the moments when we can't pick another foot up off of the ground as we wipe the sweat and tear out of our eyes we can see the goal at hand. We can see what awaits us at the top of the hill. Isaiah 40:31 says "Those who hope in the Lord will RENEW their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not be faint." When we cant take another step put your hope in the Lord and don't look back. Because Jesus is at the top of that hill, and he is so worth all of the pain and misery. The anguish and doubt. "I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the father except through me." - John 14:6
